From 2008, the Excellence in Building Awards will be divided into two gala events recognising Housing and Commercial projects seperately. The overwhelming success of these Awards, their openness to all the industry and not just members, and their highly regarded credibility, guarantee their place as the region’s peak building industry Awards and act as the unrivalled benchmark for other industry awards.
The Master Builders Association has been the region’s premier building industry organisation for over 130 years having been the voice of the building industry in this region since 1874. It is an independent member of the National Master Builders movement, promoting excellence in the building and construction industry throughout the regions of Hunter, Central Coast, Manning Great Lakes and Oxley.
For the last several years, MBA’s Excellence in Building Awards have been supported by a record number of entries, with the winners announced at the Gala Presentation Evening held at Western Suburbs Leagues Club in September. For the past 4 years, numerous winning entrants in the Hunter Region awards have gone on to successfully compete and win the Annual Master Builders National Awards.

The Housing Awards are in recognition of the
outstanding skills, workmanship and high technical standards involved in residential construction in the Hunter, Central
Coast, Manning Great Lakes and Oxley regions.
The objective of the Awards remains to encourage, promote and recognise
“Best Practice” in building and to establish benchmark projects
for others in the industry to emulate. They set leadership standards by example
and inject confidence in dealing with regional builders, architects and subcontractors.
The Housing Awards' reward sponsors, entrants and winners and at
the same time, meet the objectives of promoting increased professionalism
in the building industry and stimulating the market. The Housing Awards demonstrate leadership and confidence in the Hunter, Central Coast, Manning Great Lakes and Oxley’s future.
The Housing Awards will include more categories for the Housing Builders and Renovators, as well as the ever popular kitchen, bathroom and swimming pool categories. The entries for Housing will open in March 2009 and the Gala Event will be held on Friday 14 August 2009.

The Construction Awards are in recognition of the outstanding skills, workmanship and high technical standards involved in commercial construction in the Hunter, Central Coast, Manning Great Lakes and Oxley regions.

The Master Builders Association “Excellence in Building Awards” marks
the pinnacle of achievement in this region’s housing and commercial
construction. Attention is focused on excellence and innovation in construction
and design, value for dollar, functional efficiency and excellence in safety
during construction, Best Practice, Quality Assurance, as well as recognising
the vital role contributed by sub-contractors and architects / designers involved
in construction.
To win a Master Builders “Excellence in Building” Award is an
achievement recognising the extremely high standards of workmanship incorporated
in the project.
The annual Awards Gala Presentation prestigious event has, to date, been
sold out in advance and attended by over 550 representatives from all facets
of industry including suppliers, government, professionals, contractors, architects,
engineers and major sub-contractors. The Awards night is an evening of the
highest celebrations, accolades and entertainment.
